CALL FOR DONATIONS

Together for the preservation of the Amisiedlung at Perlacher Forst

Munich, April 2025

Dear Sir or Madam, dear friends of the "Amisiedlung",

Our settlement is facing a decisive phase: The City of Munich and the Federal Agency for Real Estate Tasks / Bundesanstalt für Immobilienaufgaben (BImA) are planning massive increase in the number of buildings and apartments, which would fundamentally change the appearance and quality of life in our settlement. The project was initiated with the resolution passed on June 12, 2024, and subsequent events. The plan includes five large residential blocks ("Green Courtyards  - Grüne Höfe"), for which around 150 protected trees would have to be felled. In total, the loss of around 300 old trees is threatened, which are irreplaceable for the climate and biodiversity in our neighborhood.
We are not fundamentally opposed to new housing, but we demand moderate, environmentally responsible development that preserves the character of the settlement and respects the needs of the residents. There are already alternative, more sustainable concepts that would have less impact on nature and the social fabric.
To effectively represent our interests, we have engaged legal counsel. The costs for this amount to around €17,000. As a small association with limited resources, we depend on your support. Every euro helps to protect our settlement!

Our Demands and Goals:

  • No "Green Courtyards", no additional commercial or gastronomy units:
The planned large buildings and commercial units would overwhelm the settlement and bring additional traffic and parking problems. Existing shopping facilities and new offers in the nearby new development area McGraw-Kaserne are sufficient.
  • No 7,000 m² of new infrastructure at the expense of the settlement:
Necessary social facilities (daycare centers, senior centers, library, etc.) can be integrated into existing or alternative building forms. The settlement must not be misused to compensate for missing infrastructure in the entire district.
  • No demolition of buildings No. 349, 350, 322:
The existing buildings should be preserved.
  • No 1,000 additional housing units:
We support an alternative, environmentally friendly renovation concept that creates about 500 new apartments through adding floors and changing layouts in the existing buildings – without massive interventions in the vegetation.
  • Preservation of large, family-friendly apartments:
4- and 5-room apartments are still needed. Large apartments that cannot be rented could, for example, be temporarily leased to the student union.
  • No five costly underground garages under unsealed areas:
Quarter underground garages with the elimination of all above-ground parking spaces will worsen the parking problem and lead to chaos. Replacement plantings on underground garages are not an equivalent substitute for old trees.
  • No felling of a total of 300 trees:
Replacement plantings cannot compensate ecologically or climatically for the loss of old trees. Biodiversity and the urban climate are at stake.

Together we can ensure that our settlement retains its character and beauty – for us and for the animals and plants that live here.

We sincerely thank you for your support!

Kind regards,
Your IWAP e.V.
